Ένα από τα σημαντικότερα συγκροτήματα του metal, οι Helloween , επιστρέφουν στην Ελλάδα στις 3 και 4 Φεβρουαρίου 2006 για να εμφανιστούν στη Θεσσαλονίκη (Υδρόγειος, 3 Φεβρουαρίου) και στην Αθήνα (Σπόρτινγκ, 4 Φεβρουαρίου). Ακόμα μια φορά στα τελευταία 20 χρόνια οι Helloween δείχνουν κουράγιο και όραμα στη μουσική. Το Γερμανικό μελωδικό μέταλ συγκρότημα συνεχίζει στη κορυφή της διεθνούς σκηνής στο ξεκίνημα της τρίτης δεκαετίας της ζωής του, έχοντας επανειλημμένα ξανα-ανακαλύψει τον εαυτό του στιλιστικά χωρίς ποτέ να χάσει το trademark του. Έτσι, αμέτρητες μπάντες διεθνώς έχουν ακόμα τους Helloween ως παράδειγμα! Τα μέλη της μπάντας, Andi Deris (φωνή), Michael Weikath (κιθάρα), Markus Grosskopf (μπάσο), Sascha Gerstner (κιθάρα) και το νέο απόκτημα Dani L?ble (drums, ex-Rawhead Rexx), με το πρόσφατο άλμπουμ ανά χείρας έχουν ανεβάσει στα ύψη τη προσμονή των fans παγκοσμίως! The Legacy?, σε άμεση συνάρτηση με τα κλασικά άλμπουμ του 1987 και 1988, συνειδητά και με εμπιστοσύνη στους εαυτούς τους βρίσκει τους Helloween να προσφέρουν κάτι μεγάλο στους οπαδούς τους. Στο φινάλε, αυτοί οι μουσικοί ξέρουν τι κάνουν: το Keeper Of The Seven Keys ? The Legacy είναι κάτι περισσότερο από ένα ακόμα άλμπουμ των Helloween, είναι η δυνατότερη κυκλοφορία της μπάντας τα δέκα τελευταία χρόνια! Η μπάντα προσφέρει αυτό τον θρυλικό τίτλο έχοντας κάτω από αυτόν ένα εξαιρετικό μελωδικό speed metal ήχο, άκρατο ενθουσιασμό, συνθετική ποικιλία και τεχνική αρτιότητα ? τι περισσότερο να ζητήσει κανείς; Α, ναι: ένα καλό λόγο για να χρησιμοποιηθεί ο τίτλος τούτος. Και αυτόν τον διαθέτουν οι Helloween: ?Παρότι δεν είμαστε πεπεισμένοι ότι τα νέα μας τραγούδια είναι τόσο ψηλά στα στάνταρς όσο τα τραγούδια των Keeper I & II, παρόλα αυτά πιστεύουμε ότι ούτε ένα τραγούδι του νέου δίσκου δεν είναι αδύναμο συνθετικά. The Legacy στέκεται μια χαρά μετά τα κλασσικά των 80ς και αυτό θέλαμε να δείξουμε» .......and then Οι Helloween σχηματίστηκαν στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 80 από μέλη δύο μπάντες του Αμβούργου, τους Iron Fist και τους Powerfool. Το πρώτο σχήμα περιείχε τους Michael Weikath (κιθάρα) και Markus Grosskopf (μπάσο) και είχε ως χαρακτηριστικό του από τότε την ανεξαρτησία στον ήχο και την αταλάντευτη αφοσίωση στην βελτίωση του ήχου τους. Μόλις δύο χρόνια μετά την ίδρυση της μπάντας, υπέγραψαν συμβόλαιο και κυκλοφόρησαν το πρώτο EP. Το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ, Walls Of Jericho, αλλά κυρίως τα δύο επόμενα, Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I και Part II που πούλησαν πάνω από 250,000 αντίτυπα μόνο στη Γερμανία, εκτόξευσαν τη μπάντα στη κορυφή της σκηνής. Ήταν πλέον μια μεγάλη επιτυχία, όχι μόνο στη Γερμανία αλλά και στην Ιαπωνία και τις ΗΠΑ, και η επιτυχία αυτή συνεχίστηκε παρόλες τις αλλαγές στο σχήμα. Το πρώτο τους live album, Live In The U.K., και το Pink Bubbles Go Ape γραμμένα στη Δανία με παραγωγό τον Chris Τσαγκαρίδη, συνεχώς απεδείκνυαν ότι το υψηλό μουσικό στάνταρ της μπάντας και το υψηλότατο στάτους που απολάμβανε εκείνη τη περίοδο και έως τις αρχές των 90ς. Νομικές διαφορές με τη δισκογραφική τους εταιρία εκεί στις αρχές των 90ς έβαλαν ?στον πάγο? τη μπάντα για αρκετούς μήνες αλλά αποδείχθηκαν προσωρινό εμπόδιο αφού το Chameleon ακολούθησε το ίδιο απαιτητικό μουσικό στάνταρ, ενώ η συνέχεια έφερε άλλη μια αλλαγή του line up με τη προσθήκη του τραγουδιστή Andi Deris και την εκτόξευση στη κορυφή της σκηνής και πάλι, αυτή τη φορά με το 7ο άλμπουμ, Master Of The Rings. Το follow up, The Time Of The Oath, αναζωπύρωσε το ενδιαφέρον της Νότιας Αμερικής και της Ιαπωνίας για τους Helloween και η παγκόσμια περιοδεία που ακολούθησε είχε ως αποτέλεσμα το 2ο live άλμπουμ τους, το High Live, ουσιαστικά τους έχρισε βασιλιάδες του χώρου τους και στα 90ς! Το 1998, το 8ο στούντιο άλμπουμ τους, Better Than Raw, πήρε τη σκυτάλη από πολύ ψηλό σημείο και ανέδειξε τη στιλιστική εξέλιξη της μπάντας και το κουράγιο και την αυτοπεποίθηση των μελών της οι οποίοι προσπάθησαν να διαμορφώσουν εναλλακτικές δομές στα τραγούδια τους. Το άλμπουμ του 2001, Metal Jukebox, έδειξε στο κόσμο μια ασυνήθιστη πλευρά των Helloween οι οποίοι διασκεύασαν κομμάτια άλλων καλλιτεχνών, μερικά από σπουδαιότερα τραγούδια σε 30 χρόνια ιστορίας του ροκ. Το The Dark Ride, του 2002 είναι μια μοντέρνα και ιδιαίτερη μέταλ ?κατάθεση? ενός διεθνούς στάνταρ και ακολουθήθηκε από μια ακόμα αλλαγή στη σύνθεση: ο κιθαρίστας Sascha Gerstner ήλθε στη μπάντα και στο Rabbit Don?t Come Easy ανεδείχθη σε τονωτική ένεση στη σύνθεση των τραγουδιών! Η τελευταία είσοδος στη μπάντα, ο Dani L?ble είναι η τέλεια λύση πίσω από το σετ των drums οπότε οι Helloween είναι σε θέση και φάση έτοιμοι να υποστηρίξουν το Keeper Of The Seven Keys ? The Legacy, ώστε να το κάνουν να σταθεί δίπλα στο τεράστιο ύψος των κλασικών τους κυκλοφοριών των 80ς.

The German melodic metal act continues to be at the top of the international metal scene at the beginning of the third decade of their existence, having repeatedly reinvented themselves stylistically without ever losing their typical trademarks and countless bands still take Helloween as an example. The musicians, Andi Deris (vocals), Michael Weikath (guitar), Markus Grosskopf (bass), Sascha Gerstner (guitar) and new addition Dani L?ble (drums, ex-Rawhead Rexx), see their latest recording, Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy, in direct context with their 1987 and 1988 classics, consciously and confidently increasing the expectations of their fans of an doubtlessly unusual studio offering. After all, these musicians know what they are doing. Keeper Of The Seven Keys ? The Legacy is more than simply another Helloween album, it?s also the band?s strongest release in over ten years. Helloween celebrate their exceptional melodic speed metal with unbridled enthusiasm, compositional diversity and technical brilliance, selecting this truly legendary title with good reason. Had we not been convinced that our new recording lives up to the high standards set by Keeper I and II - we certainly wouldn?t have called it Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy, Michael Weikath points out. I feel that the current songs have no problem keeping up with the old classics. And what is more: Keeper I and II featured the odd track that the fans weren?t particularly into, but as far as I?m concerned there?s not a single weak number on Keeper Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy.? The first harbinger to announce the impending arrival of the album, the single release ?Mrs. God?, more than proved Weikath?s claim. Now Keeper Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy confirms that there really isn?t one unconvincing number to be found among the 13 tracks. The musicians impress with epic compositions, such as ?The King For A 1000 Years? (13:54 min.) and ?Occasion Avenue? (11:05 min.), as much as they do with shorter, more compact songs (the up-tempo ?Pleasure Drone?, ?Silent Rain? with its traditional riffing, ?Do You Know What You?re Fighting For?, driven by haunting guitars, the catchy ?Come Alive? or the huge ballad -Light The Universe. In this first-ever duet in Helloween?s history frontman Andi Deris is singing together with non other than Richie Blackmore?s companion, Blackmore?s Night lead singer Candice Night). All in all a double album with 13 songs that capture their audience for over 77 minutes. Can you think of another recent release by a melodic metal act that would be justified in claiming this? Of course, the driving, transparent and extremely dynamic production courtesy of Charlie Bauerfeind also deserves to be mentioned. Bauerfeind and Helloween have worked together repeatedly in past years and have become a tight and homogeneous team. And there?s more good news for the fans: the work on Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy had hardly been completed when Helloween announced a worldwide tour that promises a sensational show in both visual and musical terms. Summary: there?s a storm brewing - Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy is about to set new standards, not only in terms of the Helloween history. Helloween came together in the early Eighties, formed by members of the two Hamburg bands, Iron Fist and Powerfool. The first line-up, already featuring Michael Weikath (guitar) and Markus Grosskopf (bass), was marked from the start by a high level of independence and the unconditional determination to work on the group?s development. Only two years after the band?s foundation, the members signed a recording deal and brought out their first EP. The debut album, Walls Of Jericho, and particularly the two subsequent offerings, Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I and Part II, which sold over 250.000 copies in Germany alone, catapulted the band directly among the elite of hard rock acts. Helloween were a major success, not only in Germany, but also in Japan and the US, and their success story continued unabated despite a number of line-up changes. Their first live recording, Live In The U.K., and Pink Bubbles Go Ape, cut in Denmark with producer Chris Tsangarides at the helm, conclusively proved the high musical standard that the band stood for in those days. Legal difficulties with their record company, which put the band on ice for several months, proved no more than a temporary set back in the early Nineties, before they continued to keep up their demanding musical standard with Chameleon, followed by another line-up change (vocalist Andi Deris joined Helloween) and the celebration of their triumphal return to the very top of the scene with their seventh album, Master Of The Rings. Their subsequent release, The Time Of The Oath, revived Helloween mania in Japan and South America, and the ensuing world tour and High Live, the second live release in the history of Helloween, crowned an era that had earned the musicians worldwide success all along the line. In 1998, their eighth studio album, Better Than Raw, picked up seamlessly where the triumphal march of the previous years had left off, presenting at once the group?s stylistic development and the justified confidence of the band members who had tried out and courageously realised experimental song structures. Their 2001 album, Metal Jukebox, showed the five musicians from an unusual but by no means less fascinating side, featuring Helloween?s interpretations of memorable rock and pop songs from over thirty years of music history. The Dark Ride, a modern and impressive metal statement of an advanced international standard, came one year later, followed by another personnel change: Sascha Gerstner joined the band, proving himself on Rabbit Don't Come Easy not only as an accomplished guitarist, but also as a compositional reinforcement. New addition Dani L?ble is the perfect man on the drum stool, so Helloween are certainly justified in seeing their new album, Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy, in line with the illustrious tradition of their greatest classics.
